A Dallas native, Max Townsley attended Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts where, during his freshman year, he joined Jazz Combo 1. With the group he traveled and performed at the IAJE (International Association of Jazz Educators) conference in Long Beach, California and New York City, and also participated in the High School Competition at the Monterey Jazz Festival, where he performed twice, winning the “Best Rhythm Section Player” award in 2003. Max attended Berklee College of Music and is currently finishing a B.A. in English Literature at the University of North Texas. Adept at guitar, bass, and piano, Max can be found performing around the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex in a variety of musical genres, ranging from jazz to rock to hip hop.
